Hello everyone, Recently there have been several incidents involving tampering, theft, and violation of Weldon School security policies. I'm writing here to raise everyone's level of awareness as well as clearly indicate responsibility. * Within the past month there were research equipment thefts from laboratories. * Also, within the past month, there was clear tampering with core equipment that was most likely intentional and potentially damaging. * This weekend there were multiple instances of propping doors open after hours (please see picture below). This is a direct and egregious violation of building and university policy. [1000027122.jpg] The safety and security of our Weldon team members and the associated facilities and property is tantamount to our operation, mission, and goals. Therefore, there can be little or no tolerance for practices that jeopardize these. * Please recognize that involvement with the Weldon programs is a privilege and not a right. I encourage all who see something to bring it to my direct attention. * We have been given many amazing gifts that we must shepherd and protect. Further, we have too many valuable activities that support our collective mission to be inhibited by those not following policies. Thank you to the many, many of you who are working diligently to support the mission of our Weldon school in so much of the work you do daily. Boiler up! -- Kevin Otto, Ph.D. Dane A.
