To all MSE graduate and postdoctoral researchers, Last week, the Indiana House of Representatives voted to approve Senate Bill 202 (SB202). This bill creates mandatory policies for the board of trustees at Purdue (along with all Indiana state schools) which are intended to eliminate political content from university curriculums and require the teaching of diverse intellectual perspectives when possible. The effects of this bill are somewhat unpredictable, but new disciplinary and tenure review practices are expected to impact the workings of higher education in the state. As Purdue prepares to draft policies which are in line with SB202, the university senate has requested student input on implementation. To solicit this input and start an educational discussion of SB202, the MSEGSA will be hosting a town hall the Monday after spring break, where we can share our ideas.
