From: Inamdar, Amruta A Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2017 12:25 PM Subject: Event for PhDs and postdocs: "Engineers in Industry" Hello: The CCO is organizing a presentation by Beverly Mentzer on how PhD students and postdocs can plan for a career in industry. Beverly retired as Vice President, ExxonMobil. She worked 33 years in both domestic & international engineering and managerial positions, and led engineers, geoscientists and onsite operations staff in US onshore and offshore oil & gas operations. She will discuss the skills needed by PhDs and postdocs if they want to succeed in industry, how best to utilize their technical skills, and which behaviors might inhibit their paths to advancement. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Please consider posting the flyer in your office spaces, and encouraging your PhD students and postdocs to attend this event! Individuals in the Departments of Chemical, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry and those interested in working in the oil and gas industry will find this talk particularly helpful. Please direct questions about the event to me. Thank you!
