Fwd: Fwd: FW: Opportunities at Sandia National Laboratories - Livermore CA
FYI… *From:*Zimmerman, Jonathan A [mailto:jzimmer@sandia.gov] *Sent:* Sunday, October 30, 2016 11:43 PM *To:* Zimmerman, Jonathan A <jzimmer@sandia.gov> *Subject:* Opportunities at Sandia National Laboratories - Livermore CA /Please disseminate the following announcement to your interested colleagues, students and former students:/ The Hydrogen and Materials Science Department provides expertise to both Sandia National Laboratories and the Nation by performing scientific and engineering research to develop fundamental understanding on the aging of materials in gaseous environments, including hydrogen, and applies this understanding to determine its effects on the performance and reliability of materials relevant to our nuclear weapons and energy missions. The Department is currently looking to fill the following positions: JobID 655319 – A staff position is available for a materials scientist, metallurgist or mechanical engineer (or similar) to develop and execute innovative fracture and fatigue-based experiments to identify mechanisms responsible for deformation and failure of structural materials – particularly metals – in hydrogen and gas environments. JobID 655320 - A staff position is available for a materials scientist, metallurgist or mechanical engineer (or similar) to perform scientific research to characterize residual stresses in forged, machined, and welded metal components as well as structures built using additive manufacturing technologies, and to use this research to advance the fundamental understanding of processing-structure-property relationships. JobID 655323 – A post-doctoral appointee position is available for a materials scientist, metallurgist or mechanical engineer (or similar) who has recently earned their Ph.D. to collaborate with staff on innovative fracture and fatigue-based experiments that identify mechanisms responsible for deformation and failure of structural materials – particularly metals – in hydrogen and gas environments. Candidates for these positions will be part of a team performing structural assessment of materials designed for high-pressure hydrogen service, and in conducting basic and applied research on the effects of high-pressure gaseous hydrogen on deformation and fracture of structural alloys. For more information, please see the attached job opening announcements. Interested candidates should apply directly on-line at http://www.sandia.gov/careers using the appropriate job ID number. All positions require the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. Thank you, Jon Zimmerman ---------------------------------- Jonathan A.
