Greetings,
On
October 18-21, Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering will host
Duke’s
Engineering Future Faculty of Innovation and Excellence (DEFINE) Program.
DEFINE consists of a two-day experience for the most promising graduate and postdoctoral students who are strongly interested in pursuing a faculty position at Duke University’s
Pratt School of Engineering. For DEFINE’s inaugural year, ten to fifteen participants who have research interests that align with Pratt’s departments and units and are within one year of applying for faculty positions will be selected. During the program,
participants will experience a variety of workshops, formal presentations, and mentoring sessions centered around demystifying the job process and building strong relationships with future colleagues and collaborators. Participants will develop a comprehensive
career plan that includes feedback on their application materials and strategies for setting themselves apart from their peers during the job search process.
The program is open to doctoral students in the final years of their dissertation or all but dissertation (ABD) and postdoctoral students will be prioritized. Other participants
will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applications are open until August 31 and those who are accepted will be notified in September. For more information, please contact
pratt_diversity@duke.edu or visit our
website
for more details.
Please share this announcement with your school’s students and others interested in exploring a career in the professoriate. I would also appreciate it if you could share this
announcement with colleagues from other institutions and organizations.
Best Regards,
Karis Boyd-Sinkler, PhD
