ABSTRACT
Carbon fiber composite materials are used in aerospace, marine and transportation industries due to their high strength-to-weight ratio. However, due to their brittle characteristic, these structures are vulnerable
to physical damage, such as a bird strike or impact damage. The repair after damage occurs is important. UV-based adhesives were evaluated to provide good adhesion in a short operation time. Different patch systems with UV-based adhesives were applied to repair
composite materials in order to obtain optimal properties. In addition, new UV-based adhesives were formulated and characterized for fast and reliable repair.
