Hi Dr. Chawla,
Hope all is well with you! I really enjoyed taking your Failure Analysis class back in Fall 2023- it has greatly
benefited me. I graduated from Purdue in Fall 2024 and am now working at Dow in Michigan. I want to share the attached information regarding a symposium organized by Dow intended for underrepresented U.S. doctoral and post-doctoral scientists to learn more
the research and careers at Dow. Please pass it along to your students- especially if anyone might find it beneficial. My team is hoping to increase participation from mechanical and materials engineering students, so any help spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.
We are now accepting
applications for the 19th annual Dow Building Engineering and Science Talent (BEST) Symposium.
This year’s
BEST symposium will be held virtually on July 28 – July 30, 2025. The symposium is primarily intended to introduce underrepresented U.S. doctoral and postdoctoral scientists to the wide range of rewarding careers in industrial research,
and in particular, the many opportunities with one of the world’s largest and leading materials science companies, Dow. This conference, developed jointly by our minority scientists and Ph.D. recruiting team, demonstrates our commitment to an inclusive work
force.
We would greatly appreciate your help to forward this to graduate students and post-doctoral scientists.
Applicants must be pursuing degrees in: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or other closely related fields
and should have a doctorate degree or expect to receive one by November 2026.
Additional information may be found at our website.
All applications are due by April
30, 2025.
Participants in the conference may be considered for future employment at Dow. However, participation neither obligates
the student to apply for employment, nor guarantees future consideration for employment by Dow. For those wishing to learn more about opportunities, please visit our
careers
page.
For further information, please contact the symposium chair James Cabrera at
best@dow.com.
