I had multiple people nominate Atila Novoselac (UT Austin, https://www.caee.utexas.edu/prof/novoselac/) and one person nominate Karma Sawyer (Director, Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division, PNNL, https://www.pnnl.gov/people/karma-sawyer) for the ME Distinguished and Herrick Lecture for this coming year.

It turns out that Atila was our recommendation last year but somehow it fell through the cracks. He had accepted my informal invitation and I had forwarded his name to the seminar organizers. However, no one followed up and I forgot about it because of the NSF Innovation Engine push. Therefore, my plan is to invite Atila again in case anyone objects. If I don’t hear from you by tomorrow, then I will follow up with Atila.

It is time again to nominate a seminar speaker for the ME Distinguished Lecture Series from the High Performance Buildings Research Area. I especially encourage our Assistant Professors to nominate speakers (especially ones that might be writing letters for you in the future).

Please send me any nominations by August 14 so that we can decide who to invite and get them on the schedule before it fills up. If I receive multiple nominations, then I can send out another email to prioritize.
