August Issue LORRE Safety

The LORRE lab has obtained the 2014 Integrated Safety Plan (ISP) Renewal Certification. Thank you all for your hard work in reorganizing the labs and preparing for the ISP Certification. Thank you to Judah Young and Robert Golden from REM for bringing comments to our attention

1)     The Chemical Hygiene Plans, Biological Safety Manuals, PPE Policy, MSDS, and Potter Emergency Plans have been set up in the labs. If reorganizing and these documents need to be moved from their current place, please make sure that the information on the door of the lab matches their new location.

2)     The ISP Certification stated that some of the self-audit checklists were completed incorrectly, but we have now sorted out the issues. These checklists are helpful for keeping the lab safe; please perform self-audits periodically to maintain safety.

3)     Please use the centrifuges carefully and safely. We suggest that you use the centrifuge in lab #252. Make sure that when using all rotors that you securely lock the top of the rotor. Do not exceed the maximum RPM - keep in mind that different rotors have different maximum speeds.

4)     A big thank you to Phillip and Wessell, Vonnie D and other the building services for their constant help organizing our labs.
