Please review the following pictures. Each contains a mistake which
was identified
in the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) inspection and has
been
corrected. In preparation
for the
upcoming ISP re-certification and for the sake of good laboratory
practice
please ensure that any similar mistakes have been corrected. (This is an internal message
for LORRE
members only)
1.
Open beaker is
not suitable for sample collection. Use a screw cap with tube
holes instead.
2.
Glass capped container not
suitable for sample
addition. Use a screw cap with
tube holes
instead.
3.
You cannot leave solution in an
injector if it is not labeled.
4.
Sink should be
cleared after use.
5.
A rubber stopper
is a better option than foil for capping for long term storage.
6.
Bottles
containing any liquid should be labeled as soon as they are
filled.
7.
Biohazard bag
too full. Biohazard bags should be autoclaved at least once a
week. Samples
containing salmonella or listeria should be autoclaved within a
day.
