To All:

Please review the following pictures.  Each contains a mistake which was identified in the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) inspection and has been corrected.  In preparation for the upcoming ISP re-certification and for the sake of good laboratory practice please ensure that any similar mistakes have been corrected.  (This is an internal message for LORRE members only)

1.       Open beaker is not suitable for sample collection. Use a screw cap with tube holes instead.

2.       Glass capped container not suitable for sample addition. Use a screw cap with tube holes instead.

3.       You cannot leave solution in an injector if it is not labeled.

4.       Sink should be cleared after use.

5.       A rubber stopper is a better option than foil for capping for long term storage.

6.       Bottles containing any liquid should be labeled as soon as they are filled.

7.       Biohazard bag too full. Biohazard bags should be autoclaved at least once a week. Samples containing salmonella or listeria should be autoclaved within a day.

Thanks,

LORE Safety Committee
