June LORRE Safety Issue

Lorre Safety Committee, 6/3/2013

The new summer research students Elizabeth, Klaire, swetha and Emma met the LORRE professors, graduate students, and the safety committee members. The new student researchers took LORRE safety training.  The safety training included:

•       Chemical Hygiene Plan and Hazardous Materials Safety Manual (Purdue).

•       Personal Protective Equipment –PPE (Purdue)

•       Biological Safety Manual (Purdue)

•       Biological Safety Exam (if involved with biochip project)

•       Autoclave Safety Training (LORRE)

•       Review the LORRE safety presentation material

We are working hard to prepare for the ISP recertification, so do not forget to return the self-audit forms by 6/14/2013. We are also having a LORRE safety activity day on 6/28/2013 to go over the issues that have been identified. We would like to see everyone work together on this issue.

It is important to advance our safety program to pass the REM inspection as well as to improve the environment, health, and safety in our activities throughout the year.
