February LORRE Safety Issue

2/5/2018

To All,

Mayor Assignments (2018) Update

“Mayor” System was proposed by the graduate students and they have each took turn as a “Lab Mayor” and played an important role in the lab safety program. Responsibilities of being a “Mayor” is to keep the lab stalked on necessities such as gloves, paper towels, and glassware detergents as well as maintaining and organizing a clean environment for the lab. Finally, the “Mayor” system will enhance safety awareness and lab responsibilities to the participants.

2018 Soybean Innovation Competition Teams

In order to ensure safety, if any of these teams need to use the lab over the weekend, please contact our graduate students who will be studying in the lab during the weekend for assistance in opening the lab door.

GC computer now repaired

Recently, the GC computer (potr333pc3) was repaired by ECN and we have changed the password. If you plan to use the GC system,
please contact our PhD student, Emma C Brace.

These are the suggestions by ECN to keep potr333pc3 safe and secure:

1)  Run Windows Updates on a regular basis as well as keeping your antivirus software up to date.

2)  Using the Antivirus, make sure the system scans itself on a regular basis.

3)  If you need to use the Internet, make sure you are using safe surfing techniques.

4)  Only download from known good sources.

Thank you,
