May LORRE Safety Issue

To All:

1.     The centrifuge, which operates at high speeds, can cause injury if not operated properly. Centrifuges 20XPI (Lab 252) and I-301 (Lab 254) have been fixed. Below are some suggestions for safe use to minimize hazards:

-        When you change rotors, ensure the rotor is properly seated on the drive shaft.

-        Do not exceed the rotor’s maximum run speed

-        If the machine says “door not latched”, you need to press a little harder until you hear a click

-        You must fill out the “high speed centrifuge and rotor record” when you use it, to help us monitor the machine status.

2.     Currently, the autoclave is having some issues. It takes a long time for the door to open as the steam exhaust is slow. We are looking into fixing this, but in the meantime please be careful when using the autoclave and follow the operating procedure exactly as written.

3.     Please close lab doors when you leave. We found lab door #336 unlocked a few days ago.

Thank you for your cooperation,
