NOVEMBER
LORRE SAFETY ISSUE
11/21/2016
To All,
Our first priority is to keep
the laboratory
environment safe. Research employing lead, cadmium, and mercury
will begin
soon. Samira Fatemi
gave a presentation
concerning heavy metal safety during the last LORRE seminar.
Thank you to REM
members Linda Swihart and Josh Brown for
offering detailed
instructions and suggestions during the meeting with Prof. Abigail
Engelberth, Samira Fatemi, Amanda Kreger,
and Xingya Liu. Also,
thank you Judah Young for
putting us in contact
with Linda and Josh. Amanda and Samira have
cleaned
the hood in Lab #359 and prepared a waste container for safe
experimenting.
All chemical waste must be
capped, labeled for REM
pickup, and disposed of properly. Oskar Kane, Raymond
Red
Corn, Emma
Brace and Julia Burchell have done
a great job
following protocol, and everyone in the lab needs to maintain
the waste
disposal standards. Please collect waste safely and fill out the
Hazardous
Materials Pickup Request form.
Thanks
