============================================
This message is sent on behalf of
Tomás Díaz de la Rubia, Chief Scientist and Executive Director, Discovery Park
It is my pleasure to invite you to join U.S. Under Secretary for Science and Energy Franklin (Lynn) Orr in a regional forum to discuss energy innovation. Research, development, demonstration, and deployment are essential to the energy innovation equation and
part of ensuring economic competiveness in the national and global marketplace. This Innovation Forum will bring together leaders from state and local governments, industry, academia, and non-governmental organizations to discuss paths forward to accelerate
innovation in the region.
The morning will begin with a keynote address from Under Secretary Orr and a discussion of Mission Innovation, with a focus on regional partnerships. Additional sessions will include four panel discussions on future directions for energy storage, bioeconomy/synthetic
biology, wind and grid integration, and critical materials and sustainable manufacturing. The panels will focus on current status, future opportunities, technology innovation as a driver for regional energy and economic development. Each panel will include
time for group discussion and questions.
The Innovation Forum will take place on Thursday, June 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Purdue University Ross-Ade Stadium. An evening reception and poster session will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed
by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Break-out sessions (8:30 a.m. – noon) on June
10 will discuss the key attributes of a regional partnership and its application to the Midwest.
Pankaj Sharma and Maureen McCann at the Energy Center, and the DP team are helping with the logistics, and Mike Ladisch, John Sutherland and Jay Gore are involved in the organization of the various panels. Please RSVP no
later than noon EDT on Monday, May 23rd. Please encourage your graduate students to present posters on topics related to energy, climate, environment and related issues and attend this event as well.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, June 9, at Purdue University.
Sincerely,
Tomás Díaz de la Rubia, Ph.D.
