LORRE Safety
Issue

To
All:
Next
month,
we have a big event coming up about LORRE’s
40th anniversary celebration.
We will greet many important funders and a lot of alumni. This
event will help
our LORRE research progress and development in numerous ways.
Therefore, LORRE
safety committee wants to make sure that LORREE lab is shown as
a safe and
organized laboratory before everyone.
We
have
updated the Lab Mayor Assignments (2018) and posted it on each
lab door’s
emergency contact form. The person listed at the very top of the
sheet is the
Lab Mayor and will facilitate everyone to assist and cooperate
with them. The most
important task as the Lab Mayor is thorough safety management of
our lab.
In
fact, this
task is already in progress. Petr Vozka
and Derick Ford have
cleaned the fume
hoods in LAB #333 and Raymond
Red Corn
started to work on the arrangement of the refrigerators and
sterilization of the
biohazardous materials. Also, Jonathan
Overton, Samira Fatemi,
Elena A Robles Molina
have been brought in the
spectrophotometer, centrifuge, and glassware to the labs.
Furthermore, Pablo Vega
has been working on
finding a way to move the refrigerators and the BioCabinet to
our lab from ABE
building. Finally, Ha
Rim Ku, Jiwon Choi,
Casey Bomrad, Justin
Couetil, and Nate
Nouman have been organizing the
lab and cleaning the waste materials.
Hope
we
continue to work hard and make our lab a better and safer
environment.
If
anyone
has any suggestions, please contact our committee.
Thank
you,
LORRE
