LORRE Safety
Issue
December 8, 2014
To
All
PPE:
As
mentioned
in the last Lab. group meeting (Lorre Seminars), we would like
to emphasize the
necessity of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). It is required
to be worn in
lab at all times. This includes:
·
Safety
glasses
·
Lab
Coat
·
Gloves
·
Long
pants
·
Closed
toed shoes
These
things
are very important and help prevent injuries and accidents in
the lab.
Hazardous Waste:
Even
though
we are close to the end of the semester, we still cannot ignore
the safety
program. This includes proper waste material disposal. Hazardous
wastes must be
taken care of responsibly. Fill out a hazardous waste disposal
tag (Fig 1,
including the percentages of the contents inside. Then a
hazardous material
pick up request form must also be filled out.

Close Laboratory
Doors
According
to
the Physical Facilities Memorandum from the COE meeting on
November 14, 2014,
it is necessary to close laboratory doors to contain hazards, to
minimize the
migration of contaminants and odors, and to optimize laboratory
and building
indoor air quality
Your
cooperation
in closing laboratory doors, specifically rooms #335 and #237,
helps to insure a safe and functional workspace and improves the
indoor air
quality of the building.
Thanks,
