This Summit is hosted in collaboration with
LASER
PULSE (Long-term Assistance and SErvices for Research, Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine), a $70M program funded through USAID’s Innovation,
Technology, and Research (ITR) Hub. LASER PULSE is a consortium led by Purdue University, with core partners Catholic Relief Services, Indiana University, Makerere University and the University of Notre Dame and implements 40+ projects in 20 countries through
a growing network of 3,400+ researchers and development practitioners in 77 countries.
LASER PULSE operates with an objective to enhance the generation and use of Higher Education Institution (HEI)-based research for decision making in global development. This
Summit aims to bring together representatives from USAID Missions, Bureaus and Independent Offices (M/B/IOs), the LASER PULSE consortium, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) , NGOs, private sector and donors, to share LASER PULSE’s experience of utilizing
academic rigor to produce solutions for development challenges alongside 26+ USAID M/B/IOs.
The topics covered during the Summit will include:

Discussion of Minority Serving Institutions’ (MSIs) engagement in international development
·
Lessons from LASER PULSE’s experience on conducting cross-sector collaborative research in international development
·
Highlights from LASER PULSE’s research in education, food security, and private sector engagement
The Summit will also have dedicated time and space for Q&A, feedback and networking.
