Gulu University Constituent College (GUCC) and Makerere University School of Public Health-ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) are pleased to announce a Request for Application (RFA) to support the pilot
of development interventions in Karamoja. The RFA seeks to onboard interventions under two tracks:
A. Indigenous Peoples of Karamoja: This track seeks to address the most pressing issues for indigenous
peoples related to:
- Landlessness and land wrangles
- Inadequate access to to education
- Erosion of language and culture
- Inadequate livelihoods for economic empowerment, and
- Inadequate healthcare.
B. Child Trafficking in Napak District: This
second track seeks to address the chronic drivers of child trafficking in Napak district, including:
- Poverty
- Food insecurity
- Peer influence, and
- Inadequate family support and poor parenting practices
Eligibility: Only
local institutions that have field offices in the districts that host indigenous peoples (Kaabong, Moroto, Kotido, Nakapiripirit, and Napak) or affected by child trafficking (Napak) are eligible to submit an application. Eligible institutions should have a
certificate of registration/incorporation and should belong to one of the following categories:
- Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
Funding: A total of 4 to 6 awards will be funded. About 3-4 projects will
be awarded under the indigenous peoples track, while 2-3 projects will be awarded under the child trafficking track. The total funding for this RFA is $200,000, and award funds will range between $30,000-50,000 per award.
