Leveraging Blockchain to Transform the African Indigenous Vegetable (AIV) Value Chain in Western Kenya

 

 

Over the past two years, a team from Virginia Tech, Egerton University, and the Australian startup AgUnity have been studying the AIV value chain in Kakamega county, to determine if a new blockchain-based smartphone app could help improve livelihoods, nutrition, and value chain efficiency for last-mile agricultural communities.

A Visit to Nairobi and the Sasumua River Watershed

 

Despite the travel related challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Margaret Gitau (PI) and Victoria Garibay made a successful field trip to Kenya as part of the LASER PULSE East Africa Water Security (LPEAWS) Project.

 

The team’s first stop was the Kenya Water Resources Authority (WRA), the entity that regulates water resources management and use in Kenya.

 

 

 


 

Project Applies Embedded Research Translation Toward Air Pollution in Vietnam

 

The Avoid the TRAP project is a multi-sector collaboration among health, education, and environment representations to minimize the impact of traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) on children in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

JEiE Publication Addresses PSS Intervention in South Sudan

 

A new article in The Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE) explores Creating a Tool to Measure Children’s Wellbeing: A PSS Intervention in South Sudan. The publication is part of LASER PULSE's Impact Evaluation of Psychosocial Support on Children’s Well-being, Literacy, and Math Outcomes in the Integrated Essential Emergency Education Program.
