The private sector has always played a powerful role in reducing the need for foreign assistance. This role has become even more critical in the wake of COVID-19 as global poverty and inequality continues to rise, and development funding is stretched to achieve more with less. The private sector and development organizations must continue to build collaborative relationships, helping to reimagine solutions to the challenges that will persist as marginalized communities recover from the pandemic.

Hosted by LASER PULSE and the University of Notre Dame’s Pulte Institute for Global Development, this virtual seminar will explore the tangible ways in which researchers, development practitioners, and the private sector can build intentional partnerships to create a more equitable world.

Members of the LASER PULSE consortium will share their approach to research for development and the tools they use for effective collaborations across the higher education, nonprofit and private sectors. You’ll also hear from LASER PULSE partners who have put this methodology into practice.

Learn how and why the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is building evidence and learning tools to engage the private sector. Members of USAID’s Private Sector Engagement working group will share insights on how they are reimagining collaboration in their work.

About LASER PULSE

LASER (Long-term Assistance and SErvices for Research) PULSE (Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine) delivers research-driven solutions to field-sourced development challenges in USAID interest countries. LASER PULSE collaborates with USAID missions, bureaus, and independent offices and other local stakeholders to identify research needs for critical development challenges and funds and strengthens capacity of researcher-practitioner teams to co-design solutions that translate into policy and practice. A consortium led by Purdue University, with core partners Catholic Relief Services, Indiana University, Makerere University, and the University of Notre Dame, implements the LASER PULSE program through a growing network of 2,500+ researchers and development practitioners in 61 countries.
