Subject: Call for Proposals Funding - US-Kazakhstan University Partnerships Program

Dear Diana,

American Councils for International Education is pleased to announce a request for project proposals for the U.S.-Kazakhstan University Partnerships Grants Program 2020-21.

Funded by the U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan, the 2021-22 U.S.-Kazakhstan University Partnerships Program builds capacity for substantive international engagement between higher education institutions (HEIs) in the United States and Kazakhstan to increase institutional, teaching, and research capacities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, particularly related to renewable energy, environment studies, and air quality.

Administered by American Councils for International Education (American Councils), the goal of the grants program is to increase institutional, teaching, and research capacities at Kazakhstani and U.S. HEIs to jointly address global challenges in renewable energy, environmental science, air quality and other STEM fields. Selected grants will meet the three key objectives of the program to:

1)      Modernize curricula and enhance teaching capacity at Kazakhstani universities in STEM fields, particularly renewable energy, environmental studies, and air quality;

2)      Increase research capacities at Kazakhstani and U.S. universities in STEM fields, particularly renewable energy, environmental studies, and air quality; and

3)      Enhance institutional capacity to support long-term academic mobility between U.S. and Kazakhstani universities.

Deadline for applications is Friday, 19 November 2021 05:00 PM EST.

Applicants will be notified of selection in late November 2021, and selected grants will be expected to accept awards and begin project implementation in early December 2021. Partnership projects should be implemented through September 30, 2022.
