Carnival Holidays

Carnival is a major event and season in Bolivia.  The event is celebrated year on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lent season in the Catholic church.  The days are marked with colorful parades and cultural displays centered in the small town of Oruro, although the entire country takes part in the celebrations.

The following photos of the celebration came directly from our in-country NGO contact, Juan Antonio Chinchilla!
