A growing body of work has documented disparate access to urban nature by race and socioeconomic status, which may in turn beget inequitable outcomes in terms of residents' health, happiness, and satisfaction. However, the story is not the same in every city - research in some cities reveals a positive association between wealth, privilege, and biodiversity. Yet, other studies show that areas with lower incomes or high proportions of minoritized racial identities have greater access to biodiversity. In still other studies socioeconomic factors and biodiversity appear unrelated. The presentation will discuss why this might be, as well as some ideas on achieving greater access for all.
