This is a unique opportunity for scientists and students to present their work at a regional professional meeting and connect with area toxicologists, chemists, environmental engineers, risk assessors, and policy experts. The meeting is designed to promote the dissemination of information from current research concerns, priorities, potential risks, and management strategies. Program Highlights 3 April: The program kicks off on Wednesday with a meet and greet at the Bluegrass Brewing Company (at own cost). 4 April: The technical part of the meeting starts on Thursday morning with a quick introduction from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, followed by Jade Young, who will provide an “Overview of USACE Water Quality Program Including Work on New Technologies.” Karen Keil will address “The Manhattan Project’s Environmental Legacy and Associated Emerging Contaminants: We Are Still Cleaning Up Some 75 Years Later,” and Judy Strawhecker will present “Emerging Contaminants and the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) Program.” After lunch, platform presentation sessions will follow. 5 April: Platform presentations will continue Friday morning, followed by a keynote presentation from Susan Glassmeyer on “Contaminants of Emerging Concern During De Facto Water Reuse.” A poster session and award ceremony for best student presentation wil conclude the meeting Friday afternoon.
