Environmental Research Expo and Community Mixer

Thursday, October 17th 4:30-7:00 PM PMU East & West Faculty Lounges

The Center for the Environment invites all affiliates and their students to share their research and connect with others at their sixth annual Environmental Research Expo and Community Mixer. All are welcome and research groups, students, and student organizations are encouraged to present a poster on their environmental research or set up informational displays.  Register to present a poster or RSVP to attend.

 

Video Competition

Purdue students are encouraged to participate in our Video Competition.  Students can submit a short video regarding the Sustainable Development Goals by October 11th to be considered.  Monetary prizes will be awarded.  Find contest guidelines and example videos here.  

 

Video Viewing

RSVP to view the top videos from the Video Competition on October 17th.  Refreshments will be provided.

 

Disaster Simulation

Friday, October 18th 12:30-2:30 PM

RSVP to participate in our disaster simulation activity.  Teams will act as countries and make decisions regarding food security and responses to disasters.  It will be an engaging, though provoking, and fun activity.  Lunch will be provided!

 

Panel Discussion “Sustainable Development Goals: Tradeoffs & Synergies”

Friday, October 18th 3:00-4:00 PM

RSVP to attend our panel discussion.  Interdisciplinary panelists will briefly present their perspectives on the tradeoffs and synergies of the Sustainable Development Goals, and open discussion with the audience will follow.  Refreshments will be provided.

 

Keynote Speaker

Friday, October 18th 7:00 PM

RSVP to attend our keynote address with Deidra Fair James.   Deidra is a Purdue graduate and is a Director at Millennium Challenge Corporation where she focuses on mobilizing resources to catalyze sustainable economic growth in developing countries.  Her presentation will address the overarching topic of the symposium to cap off the event.
