Postdoctoral Scientist
A position is available
for a Postdoctoral Scientist in the Department of Environmental Sciences. The individual will conduct research on the design of novel functionalized carbonaceous materials for use as adsorbents or adsorbent/catalysts. One application is for nutrient
capture and subsequent fertilizer value funded by the USDA. The individual is expected to undertake fundamental mechanistic studies, as well as contribute to scale-up efforts on promising systems. The individual will work independently but closely with collaborators
from the University of California, Davis on the broader goals of the project. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, preferably soil science or environmental engineering; be familiar with carbonaceous materials; have some experience in
adsorption; have strong writing and speaking skills; and have a strong record of productivity in research. The appointment is for about 1.5 years, depending on performance and continued availability of funding. The salary and benefits are competitive. Applicants
