Please read information below from Brandon Stevens, EPICS Lab Manager Thanks, Jorge Martinez Assistant Director EPICS ARMS 1209, martinezj@purdue.edu<mailto:martinezj@purdue.edu> o: 765-494-0629 f: 765-494-0052 Book time with me<https://outlook.office.com/bookwithme/user/0c6723dfdaf6425dbdf8c433def46014@purdue.edu?anonymous&ep=pcard> or reach me via Teams<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fteams.microsoft.com%2Fl%2Fchat%2F0%2F0%3Fusers%3Dmart1419%40purdue.edu&data=05%7C02%7Cepics-teams%40ecn.purdue.edu%7C0d7c7cdb0ed6461b209e08ddfd3c622a%7C4130bd397c53419cb1e58758d6d63f21%7C1%7C0%7C638945157970514313%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=NLo6d%2FRm4AZGPKiXeATfHsoRMYqiDLYFhNzpJT0Yiyg%3D&reserved=0> I recognize that we may work different schedules; I do not expect a reply out of your working hours. From: Brandon R Stevens <brsteven@purdue.edu> Sent: Friday, September 26, 2025 4:06 PM Please share the following reminders with students, TAs, and advisors: 1. Podium Computers and Presentations We have had issues with podium computers not "waking up" for projector use. IT is working on this, but please note: laptops will not work during design reviews, as the room's audio and video are set up only for the podium computers. If you encounter a podium computer that isn't working properly, please record a short video of the issue and send it to me so I can share it with IT. Remember the video switch in 1098C must manually be switched back to allow users to select between which computer they are projecting from. 2. Equipment Safety and Proper Use Students have completed safety awareness training, which includes notifying the lab manager if any tools are broken. Please be reminded: * If a tool is locked out, it must not be tampered with or bypassed. * Unfortunately, the E-STOP on the table saw has been broken for the second time. This equipment no longer has replacement parts available. The saw is currently missing its E-STOP safety device, so extreme caution must be used when using this saw. 3. Housekeeping in Lab Spaces It's great to see so much project work happening in the labs! However, it is everyone's responsibility to keep the spaces clean, organized, and safe: * Return all tools and supplies to their correct places. * Avoid leaving tools in the wrong toolboxes or supplies scattered across the lab. TAs and advisors, your support in monitoring this during the scheduled lab time for your team is appreciated. I realize that we have a very difficult time monitoring this, especially during evening hours. 4. Facility Security We must ensure our spaces remain secure. Please help by reminding students: * If you are the last person in a room, turn off the projector and make sure the door closes and latches properly. * Do not leave doors propped open. We've had recurring issues with ARMS 1095 (computer lab) and the double doors of ARMS 1098 not closing and locking at night. This poses a security risk. Thank you for your continued help in keeping our facilities safe, functional, and secure.
