MENTAL HEALTH MINUTE

Sleep is Important!

Greetings from the CARES Hub!

With the end of the semester fast approaching and projects and exams looming, restful sleep becomes even more important. Are you getting the recommended 7 – 9 hours of sleep per night? 55% of Purdue students surveyed said no.

Why is sleep so important?

  • Learning – healthy sleep positively impacts your learning, concentration, and creativity.
  • Efficiency – healthy sleep helps you recharge. Skipping or reducing sleep for other commitments reduces your overall productivity and efficiency.
  • Decision-making – healthy sleep improves decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-being – healthy sleep improves your mood and ability to regulate your emotions.

Need a helpful guide to help you improve the length and quality of your sleep? Check out Purdue RecWell’s sleep handbook. It will have you enjoying restful, restorative sleep in no time!
