I've set up a desktop computer in the Hansen light-sheet room and have installed Imaris on it. The computer has 32GB of RAM and a 6TB hard drive. If you're interested, you're welcome to come and give it a try. Here are some important points to consider:
- While the PC is internet-connected, it doesn't have a direct link with the acquisition computer. To transfer data, you can either upload it to cloud storage (Onedrive, Box,...)
and then download it to the Imaris PC or bring a portable drive for large data transfer.
- You can access this PC remotely using TeamViewer. However, please note that the Imaris software is not currently managed by iLab. To avoid conflicts, please inform me in advance if you plan to use Imaris.
- Due to the large size of light-sheet data, this PC is not suitable for long-term data storage. When the hard drive begins to fill up, older data will be deleted to accommodate new analyses. Always ensure
you maintain a copy of your data after using the software.
- I'll arrange for the Bruker support technician to install the Luxendo Control software on this PC. Once this is done, you'll have the option to run image processing on this machine.
- The use of Imaris software is entirely free of charge, and this aligns with our existing policy of providing users with free access to analysis software.
- I'm also relatively new to this software, so I'd be more than happy to collaborate with you in learning how to use it effectively.
We'll continually update the workflow to ensure a seamless transition when the actual workstation computer arrives. Don't hesitate to reach out with any suggestions or questions. Feel free to share
this information with anyone interested in Imaris.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
