I am pleased to announce that E. Daniel Hirleman has been appointed as Purdue University’s Chief Corporate and Global Partnerships Officer in the Office of the
Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships. He will begin his appointment on August 18, 2014.
Working collaboratively with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships, Dr. Hirleman will enhance nontraditional
funding streams for Purdue researchers from U.S. and global private sector organizations, including government, foundations and NGOs.
Dr. Hirleman returns to Purdue after having served as Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of California, Merced, since 2010. At Purdue he was professor
and William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering from 2001 to 2010. During that time he founded and directed the Global Engineering Program and received the Outstanding Mechanical Engineer Award for his exemplary accomplishments
and leadership in industry, academia and governmental service.
In his new role, Dr. Hirleman will be responsible for advancing research and education partnerships with the private sector and building global partnerships with
international institutions of higher education, NGOs and global companies. He will direct the Global Policy Institute and oversee Purdue’s International Programs operations. Dr. Hirleman will act as facilitator in support of international
opportunities for students, faculty and researchers. In addition, he will coordinate Purdue’s efforts with industry and foundations to offer a point of contact for company representatives to collaborate and partner with Purdue.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hirleman to his new position as the University’s
Chief Corporate and Global Partnerships Officer. He brings a depth of experience in teaching, research and global engagement and has been internationally recognized for his accomplishments in advancing programs for global collaborations.
