Dear Colleagues:

The School currently has some vacant Named Professorships.

The new School procedure for potentially selecting the next recipients for these recognitions is as follows. (This process is similar to what is done in most, if not all, other Schools in the College.)

All eligible faculty are requested to submit their most recent and complete CV, along with a 1-page summary outlining any accomplishments to date and the importance of those accomplishments.

This material will then be reviewed by the School’s Named/Distinguished Professor Committee (NDPC).

The NDPC will then recommend to the Head which faculty (if any) should be considered further for the vacant Named Professorships.

For only those recommended by the NDPC, the Head will consult with those recommended faculty for a list of external letter writers (at least 5 are needed), and the Head will then solicit letters from that list.

After the letters are received, the NDPC will reconvene for a final vote on the recommended candidates. For those candidates receiving a positive vote at this meeting, the resulting nomination packets will then be forwarded to the appropriate College-level Committee. (Positive votes at this College-level committee are then forwarded to the Dean, and then the Provost, and then on to the President and BoT for final approval.)

If you would like to be considered for one of the vacant Named Professorships, please submit to Joshua Gonzalez (jgonzal@purdue.edu) your CV and the 1-page summary by 5pm on Dec. 15.

The NDPC will be convening for the initial set of recommendations at a meeting scheduled no later than Dec. 19.
