Hello everyone,
Please remember that
safety gloves have to be removed and disposed of correctly BEFORE leaving the lab, unless you transport chemicals (in secondary containers) from one lab to another, in which case you can wear one glove (keeping the other hand ungloved).
Used safety gloves SHOULD NOT be disposed of in trash bins located in public areas, like hallways.
The FRNY space where you can wear your lab coat and ONE glove is clearly marked as “One Glove Policy Area”.
For the safety of everyone, please do not violate this School policy and do not wear safety gloves in public areas and in areas where the one glove policy does not apply
(e.g.: office, office hallways, restrooms, etc.), and DO NOT dispose of used safety gloves in trash bins located in hallways.
I have received notifications that safety gloves were seen in restroom trash bins, and most recently (today) on the floor near the trash bin on first floor, old wing (see photos attached),
which is unacceptable. To maintain a strong safety culture in our School and on campus, please dispose of used safety gloves correctly, keep your safety, and the safety of others in mind and apply good safety practices at all times.
Thank you for your commitment to safety!
Gabriela
On behalf on the ChE Safety Committee
