RE: Avoid area - traffic signal down at Stadium and University

The traffic signal is down at the intersection of Stadium Avenue and University Street. A subcontractor working on a West Lafayette city water project struck a traffic signal pole with a backhoe and knocked it down.   The traffic signal will be out of service until a pole can be located and the signal can be reinstalled.  

The West Lafayette Street Department has deployed temporary stop signs at the intersection.  Vehicles should use extreme caution and pay attention to pedestrian traffic as they move through the intersection.   Drivers should seek alternate routes around the intersection during peak traffic times to avoid delays.
