The ChE Safety Committee has developed a guideline for the use hydrogen and flammable hydrogen gas mixtures in our laboratories (https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/AboutUs/Safety/Hydrogen%20Use%20Guideline_October%202011.pdf).  The guideline addresses hydrogen detectors, piping and tubing, shut-off valves, cylinder location and ignition sources.

To ensure the safety of our personnel, all ChE labs that use hydrogen or flammable hydrogen gas mixtures should be following this guideline.
