Colleagues:

I apologize that I neglected to include the promised context for my note below.  Here it is.

Best wishes,

Steve

Dear colleagues,

Over the past few weeks, we have received a number of questions and concerns regarding plans to reopen in the fall. While some information regarding the re-open is being communicated via news media (see for example President Daniels’ recent op-ed in the Washington Post), we know many questions remain. So that your concerns, questions, and input can be heard, we are organizing a Town Hall for the campus on Monday June 8, 2020 from 2:30pm-5pm. We appreciate you distributing this “Save the Date” to your departments and colleagues, including faculty, staff, and graduate students.

In the next week, we will distribute a link to a form to collect your questions, concerns, comments, and recommendations regarding the re-opening. This will happen in advance of the Town Hall. We appreciate hearing from you and your departments / constituents you represent. Full participation across all Colleges and Units will support us in our goal to clearly communicate faculty, staff, and student input with the administration. We are grateful for your help in distributing this Save the Date and other materials forthcoming.

More information will follow. Updates will be posted on the Senate website as well. Please do not hesitate to contact myself and / or incoming Senate Chair, Deb Nichols, with any questions you may have.

Until then, take care.

Best,
Cheryl

Subject: University Reopen Message from Steve Beaudoin

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing in my capacity as your representative to the University Senate to call your attention to the ‘Reopen Town Hall’ that will be held virtually on June 8, 2020 from 2:30 – 5.  Details are below.  This is a very important event, as it represents our first opportunity to engage the university administration about the plans for reopening.  A link to a survey will be forthcoming.  In that survey, I expect that you will be able to express your thoughts about the reopen plan (whatever you may know about it) and to ask questions that may be addressed during the Town Hall.  The current summary of our plans can be found here:  https://protect.purdue.edu/

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Steve”
