Engineering Associate Heads –
We are asking for your help in finding additional Armory Assistant volunteers for December 2024 Commencement. The Registrar’s Office seeks help from the colleges for every commencement ceremony and this is a low-commitment high-impact volunteer opportunity that does not involve attending the ceremony.
Advisors are the backbone of this effort and 11 have already volunteered their time but the Registrar needs at least 10 more staff and faculty from your units. Please distribute this message and encourage your colleagues to consider joining our advisors in helping celebrate our students’ accomplishments.
Thanks,
Bill
Armory Assistants-
Winter Commencement – one ceremony for Sunday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. All schools except ABE (ABE will be with the College of Agriculture in Division I). A description of the role and time commitment from the Office of the Registrar is below:
Role: This role can be faculty, staff or advisors. Assist with checking in candidates in the armory prior to ceremony for procession.
Responsibility: Armory assistants report to their college table/s and receive instructions from Office of the Registrar staff. They then check in their students and assist with orator card distribution and lineup. We recommend a ratio of 1 Armory assistant for every 50 candidates. No regalia required.
Time commitment: Report to Armory approximately 120-135 minutes (about 2 and a half hours) before ceremony start time and remain until the procession has left the armory which is 35 minutes prior to ceremony start time.
