Subject: CCE request for names by Friday June 5th : 2026-2027 Engineering Fellows Nominations Now Open
Teresa or Ayman- Can you please foward to the faculty and staff CCE lists?
Last year, an LSCCE student (Amareah Bead) was nominated and selected as a Purdue Engineering Fellow, the College of Engineering's highest undergraduate distinction,
resulting in $25,000 for the graduating student, and some well-deserved positive publicity for our school as well.
We'd like to make sure our upcoming LSCCE seniors also have a chance to win this award, and we have now entered nominating season.
All completed nomination packets are due by June 30.
Do you have a student in mind as a great candidate for this award?
If so, our advising team is happy to support that process! At this point, we only need student names so we can begin the process of narrowing down candidates and gathering appropriate supporting
documents for that nomination. NOTE - To be eligible, the student must be set to graduate Spring 2027.
Please send to Laura (llathrop@purdue.edu ) before this Friday, 6/5, with the name(s) of any upcoming
senior student(s) you feel should be considered. We do not need further information at this time.
A great student nominee must exemplify:
1. Creative thinking
2. Problem-solving
3. Respect of peers
Process Information
Our school hopes to nominate no more than 3 candidates in order to maximize
the chances that an LSCCE candidate is chosen.
If your student's nomination moves forward, the advising team will reach out again to ask you to provide:
1. Your contact info
2. Two-page (max) nominator letter noting:
a. How the nominee stands out among other high-achieving
peers - use a strong narrative that can be ideally supported with documents (ex. impactful research done by student, media article, etc.)
b. Direct, specific, concrete examples of how the student
exemplifies each of the 3 criteria (creative thinking, problem-solving, peer respect)
We can compile the remaining items and submit the nomination on your behalf when it is ready, if we are able to gather everything before
the deadline.
Regards,
Laura Lathrop

Engineering Faculty and Staff,
Nominations for the College of Engineering's highest undergraduate honor, the Purdue Engineering Fellows, are now open.
Purdue Engineering Fellows recognizes the accomplishments, contributions and potential of
seven outstanding seniors who make a difference in the College and in the lives of others by
bringing creative thinking to their academic activities, demonstrating distinctive
problem-solving abilities, and are respected by their peers.
Purdue Engineering Fellows will be students who demonstrate impressive abilities to think creatively and to develop innovative solutions to problems—whether in the classroom, in student life, or in the community.
We are now asking faculty and staff to submit nominations through the Qualtrics form provided below
by June 30th, 2026.
Students must be graduating in May of 2027 to be eligible (August/December grads are not eligible). Upon graduation,
each recipient will receive $25,000. A nomination letter and copy of the
student’s resume are required for full consideration.
The Fellows will be announced and honored at the
Purdue Engineering Fellows Ceremony on 9/22 at 5:30pm in Fowler Hall. Fellows and their nominators will be informed privately of their selection approximately one week before the ceremony.
If you have any questions regarding the Purdue Engineering Fellows nomination process, please contact Stephen Stewart at
stewarsr@purdue.edu.
