Subject: [Engr-all-list] EMERGENCY SECURITY UPDATES and Reboots for ALL Windows Systems

Due to a critical Microsoft Windows vulnerability identified as CVE-2024-38063, we are pushing emergency updates to all machines as soon as possible. Starting around midnight tonight 8/16/24, the updates will automatically install and force a reboot.

What You Need to Do:

Save Your Work: Please ensure that you save any ongoing work frequently to avoid any loss of data during the update process.
For Mission Critical Machines: Machines that are in the middle of long running research jobs that cannot be interrupted, please submit your information to the following site to be excluded from the reboot: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ECN/Resources/Tools/patchExclusion
Report Issues: If you encounter any issues following the updates, please report them immediately to our IT support team.
