CoE Outstanding Service Scholarship Nominations

Hello CCE Faculty and Grad Students, The College of Engineering awards an Outstanding Service Scholarship of $2,000 to a graduate student in each school who has provided outstanding service to the graduate student community, the School, the College, and/or the University. Each school is asked to nominate one candidate for the Outstanding Service Scholarship. The Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering is taking nominations for the CCE Scholarship. The Grad Committee will rank our nominations and send our top student on to the College. Nominations are due to Jenny Ricksy (jricksy(a)purdue.edu<mailto:jricksy@purdue.edu>) by 8:00 am Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Nominees should meet the following criteria: 1. Be pursuing a graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering 2. Be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0, with a higher GPA preferred 3. Have completed at least one full calendar year in the graduate program at the time of the nomination 4. Have contributed, over time, to the quality, reputation, or success of the graduate student community, School, College, and/or University Nominations should consist of a letter (max two-pages) from the nominator that includes factual information showing that the student meets the 4 criteria listed above and a copy of the students resume/CV as one pdf. Purdue’s transition to Mobile Credentials and modern contactless technology

[cid:63f24396-a397-4eeb-8444-d4c97d024487] Greetings from ID Card Operations, As part of Purdue’s transition to Mobile Credentials and modern contactless technology, we will begin upgrading Transact card readers across campus. Beginning in February 2026, the magnetic stripe (swipe) feature on all Transact devices will be permanently disabled, and readers will support contactless tap access only. [cid:b77aaf1f-8c5f-42f0-819b-dd960cb01a46] TAP ONLY starting February 2026 These upgrades will: * Improve security and reliability * Streamline the campus access experience * Support continued expansion of Mobile ID technology To enter buildings or access secure services after this change, customers will need to tap using their contactless‑enabled physical Purdue ID or Purdue Mobile ID. Our team is committed to a smooth transition. If an individual’s ID card is not contactless‑enabled, ID Card Operations will contact them directly via email with guidance on any next steps to ensure uninterrupted access. No action is required unless you are contacted by ID Card Operations. FAQs How do I know if my card is contactless? · All Purdue ID Cards issued after July 2022 have an encrypted NFC chip in addition to the magstripe. Impacted users will be contacted via email directly if a replacement is needed. Users do not need to take action unless they are contacted by the ID Card Operations / Support team via email. If I use my Purdue Mobile ID will I still need to replace my physical ID? · No. If you have an active Purdue Mobile ID, you will not need to replace your physical card for door access. Will doors still open if someone swipes their magstripe instead of tapping? · No. If a user attempts to swipe, the reader will Flash red and Deny access. This is expected behavior and helps reinforce the transition to contactless use. Will all Transact readers across campus only use contactless technology by Spring 2026? · Yes. All readers connected to the Transact and LenelS2 systems will use contactless credential technology only. Independent Graduate Research Scholarship - Spring 2026

Hello CCE Grad Students! The CCE Grad Office requesting applications for the Spring 2026 Independent Graduate Research Scholarships. Students often request opportunities to obtain research experience, even without a formal research assistantship. This scholarship program is not intended to replace an assistantship (students should not be working on a project that is supported through a grant). Instead, the student is strongly encouraged to propose a small research project, that a faculty member is willing to supervise and guide. This program is meant as another opportunity for professional and technical development for our graduate students and to encourage students who have not received an assistantship or thesis project, to venture into/engage in research. I have attached a document with more information about the process. We anticipate having five positions to award, each providing a $3000 scholarship.
