Purdue to host Geotechnical Society Workshop and the 21st G.A. Leonards Lecture
The theme for the workshop is “Engineering the Ground: from fundamentals to applications”. It aligns with the subject of the Leonards Lecture,
“Engineering Frozen Ground: understanding the behavior of soil on freezing and thawing”, which will be given by
Professor Giulia MB Viggiani of Cambridge University.

The Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of ASCE has announced Samuel Labi, Professor of Civil Engineering, as the 2025 recipient of the Wilbur S. Smith Award. This award is given to a person who has made "special contributions to the enhancement
of the civil engineer's role in highway engineering."
