Professor Helen McNally is offering ENGT-56100, Metrology Concepts this Fall semester. The Science of Measurements is an essential aspect to any science, engineering or technology research. This course introduces the concepts of metrology to include measurement systems (sensors and signal conditioning), data acquisition and analysis, and error propagation. Systems and environmental noise are investigated along with methods to mitigate influences of noise. Standards and calibration of instrumentation are also studied. Instrumentation for electrical and mechanical measurements are studied along with their corresponding measurement standards. These concepts of metrology are described from the macro to nano scale.
