Dear Birck residents,

Hope you are enjoying the new semester so far! OSA (Optical Society of America) and SPIE (the International Society for Optics and Photonics) are the two leading organizations for optics/photonics researchers in the United States (and of course there is also IEEE). We founded the OSA and SPIE Purdue Student Chapters in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Tomorrow (9/7, Wed) we will have our SPIE/OSA Purdue student chapters joint callout at ME 1015 starting from 4 pm, the event will feature a talk by Prof. Zubin Jacob titled "Lighting a fire with vacuum friction". Do you want to learn about the latest progress in optics/photonics, network with peers, and gain leadership experience? Then come to our callout and become a member! As usual, food and beverages will be provided.
