Greetings,
My college Xu wrote an announcement for postdoc opening. Please find the details below. Lemme know if you have any questions.
Opening for Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Focus
Professor Sheng Shen (Mechanical Engineering) and Professor Xu Zhang (Electrical and Computer Engineering) at Carnegie Mellon University are seeking joint postdoctoral fellows for research initiatives to develop micro-robots by leveraging the emerging nanomaterials (especially 2D materials) and nanotechnologies. Key approaches include (but not limited to): fabrication of nanoscale electronics and optoelectronics, light-assisted control and actuation, plasmonics, CMOS-2D materials integration, MEMS/NMES, energy harvesting, etc.
Candidates with expertise in any one of the following areas (not required to have experience in all areas) are encouraged to submit your application.
(1) Nanoscale Electronics and Optoelectronics
- Nanofabrication
- Design and testing of electronic devices
- 2D materials or other nanomaterials
(2) Plasmonics and Photonics
- Simulation and design of plasmonic/photonic structures
- Fabrication and characterization of plasmonic/photonic devices
- Photovoltaics
- Sensing
- Optical fibers, etc
(3) Integrated Circuits and Systems
- Circuit and system design
- Chip-scale electronics
- THz Communication
(4) MEMS/NEMS
- Fabrication of micro/nano actuators
Candidates in all backgrounds will be considered, although individuals with expertise in one of the above areas/subareas are preferred. To apply, please send your CV and contact information of three references to Prof. Xu Zhang (xuzh@cmu.edu).
Bio
Prof. Sheng Shen is an Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, with a background in nanoscale engineering, thermal science, photonics and materials science. He received his PhD degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prof. Shen’s research interests include nanoscale thermal transport and energy conversion phenomena, and their applications in solar or thermal energy conversion, thermal management, and multifunctional materials.
