This review is in accordance with the established policy for review of administrative officers at Purdue, to assess effectiveness in meeting strategic goals and administrative expectations, as well as to provide constructive observations and guidance for improvement and development. Since this is a performance review, it will be carried out in confidence. I have appointed a review committee consisting of Marietta Harrison, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, as its chair, with Sunil Bhave, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Alexandra Boltasseva, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Carol Handwerker, Reinhardt Schumann Jr. Professor of Materials Engineering; Richard Kuhn, Professor of Biological Sciences and Director of Purdue Institute for Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease; Mark Lundstrom, Don and Carol Scifres Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Karen Plaut, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs, College of Agriculture; and Arvind Raman, Associate Dean for Global Engineering Programs and Robert V. The review will be comprehensive, addressing all relevant dimensions of Dr. Shakouri's responsibilities. The review will be retrospective and thus will consider how Dr. Shakouri's position responsibilities and characteristics have evolved over time. It also will be prospective, in that it will be used to suggest areas for emphasis and change that will further the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships', Discovery Park's, and Purdue's mission and goals.
