The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc.(NYSE: MSI) is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its 2012 Innovation Generation grant program.  The Innovation Generation grant program is designed to inspire students to learn about science and generate interest in science-related careers by providing support to U.S. science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs.  Two types of grants are offered.  ·         Local Impact Grantstarget innovative, hands-on STEM education programs for U.S. elementary through university students and teachers. Grant requests must be between $15,000 and $60,000 for projects that start after June 2012. ·         National Partnership Grantssupport large-scale, multi-regional STEM education programs that impact at least 150 primary participants.  Grant requests must be between $50,000 and $250,000 for projects that start after June 2012. Projects may last up to one year.  In each grant category, priority will be placed on programs that: o    Serve the Motorola Solutions communities in and around the greater metropolitan areas of:  Columbia, Md.; Holtsville, N.Y.; McAllen, Texas; Plantation, Fla.; San Jose, Calif.; and Schaumburg, Ill. o    Focus on girls and underrepresented minorities o    Teach not only STEM but also innovative thinking and creative problem-solving skills o    Provide opportunities for Motorola Solutions employees to volunteer o    Demonstrate measurable change in STEM awareness, skills or education through the use of evaluation systems and appropriate measurement tools o    Collaborate with other STEM education providers or institutions o    Demonstrate the ability to move students through the pipeline to more advanced STEM education or careers Applications will be accepted until March 23, 2012.  Awards will be announced at the end of May 2012.  Two conference call information sessions have been scheduled to provide an overview of the program, explain priority areas for 2012 and answer any general questions you may have.
