It is time once again for Purdue to prepare the required documentation to review the F&A rate for the University.  Part of this review requires us to submit documentation on the use of office space within Birck. 

I will need your help to determine what type of work is done in your office as well as your students.  There are several categories that can be used to identify the work.  They are:

Organized Research- Space that is used for research and development activities that are separately funded and accounted for, funded by third parties which can be either federal or non-federal.  This would also include activities that are funded from cost share.

 

Departmental Research- Includes space used for research and development activities that are part of one's professional interest, support by gift or endowment funds, includes seed and start-up fundingand includes any indirect cost recovery money.

 

Other Sponsored Programs-Space used for activities that are sponsored by third parties, both federal and non-federal funding which involves performance of work other than Research or Instruction.  Ex: service projects, travel grants, seminars and conferences.

 

Instruction-Space used for instructional activities which includes teaching and training activities, course preparation, study areas for students and academic advising of students. Fellowships would also be included within this category.

 

 

I will need for you to provide me with a breakdown of your office usage for the period of fiscal year 2012 (July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012) using the categories listed above. They will need to equal 100%.
