DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Hello\n\nIt is my great pleasure to host Prof. S
rinivas Tadigadapa (Northeastern University) for his talk in the ECE Semin
ar Series. The details are below and attached. Hope to see you in the semi
nar. Please note a change in the time for this talk.\n\nThanks\n\nSumeet\
 n\nWhen: March 25\, 2021 (Thursday)\, 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM (ET)\n\n\nWhere:
  https://purdue-edu.zoom.us/j/3164232249\n\nTitle: Microresonators for Sen
sing Applications\n\nAbstract: The field of micro and nano sensors has rap
idly evolved over the last couple of decades with many of the highest perf
ormance devices exploiting the phenomenon of resonance for sensing. Micro
and nano scale designs\, fabrication\, and integration of new materials of
fer unique opportunities for innovative\, novel\, and robust sensor config
urations. Examples of micromachined electromechanical\, acoustic\, optical
\, and nanoscale resonator devices will be presented. Resonator based sens
ors including temperature and infrared sensors\, magnetic sensors\, and ch
emical and biological sensors will be discussed. An overview of critical d
esign considerations such as resonator geometry\, the Q-factor\, and perfo
rmance advantages of these devices will be presented.\n\nSpeaker Bio: Srin
ivas Tadigadapa is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical a
nd Computer Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston\, USA. From 2
000 – 2017 he was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Pennsylva
nia State University. Dr. Tadigadapa’s primary research interest is in t
he interdisciplinary field of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and in
the design\, optimization\, fabrication\, and testing of MEMS transducers
. Specifically his research focus is on the fabrication of novel micro and
nano-sensors and actuators by integrating non-traditional materials using
silicon microfabrication techniques and exploring phenomenon at the micro
-nano interfaces. He has published over 180 peer reviewed papers in the fi
eld of MEMS and is the inventor on ten patents. He was awarded the Alexand
er von Humboldt fellowship in Germany and the Walton fellowship by the Sci
ence Foundation of Ireland. He is a Fellow of the IEEE\, The Institute of
Physics\, London\, and a Life-Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Societ
 y. He is the founding editor of IEEE Sensors Letters.\n\n\n
