NOTICE - East General Lab Wing HVAC Interruption - Update
Dear East Lab Wing Users, Early this morning there was a building controls alarm from the east wing HVAC unit. After investigation there was a failure of the fan motor electrical control system. The electrical controls to the fan motor are obsolete with no technical support or spare parts available. PUPF is working on ordering replacement parts today, but with the timing of the failure with fan motor controls it will not be fixed during the Purdue campus holiday closure. With the rising number of COVID cases and the reduced number of air changes, REM has given the direction to close all chemical and biological labs until the HVAC system is fully repaired. However dry labs will remain open with a reduced number of air changes so you can continue working but at your own risk. The following dry labs will be open during the holiday break but all other labs will posted closed until future notice. Open Dry Labs 1031 1045 1083 1077 2037 1089 Closed Biological & Chemical Labs 1039 2031 1043 2037 1066 2043 1081 2077 2081 2087 2087A 2087B We are sorry for this unscheduled interruption but PUPF and Operation & Maintenance department are working on the issues the best they can. At this time there is higher negative static pressure in all these labs sucking the door to the lab space close. It may be difficult to open these door when entering these labs. The temperature and humidity control in these labs will be out of control until we can get AHU 2 operational. We will keep you posted by email on any changes .
