Dear BNC Users -

Below is the current condition of Birck Center Operations.  All cleanroom and labs are closed for research and the cleanroom is running negative due to no makeup air. We have the run our chemical exhaust system in hand operation for safety reasons (toxic gas and chemicals), since all building controls run off of the UPS power system that is down.

Update 8/9/24

· Card Reader System (Down - No UPS power)

· Laboratory HVAC (Chemical exhaust in manual operation no makeup air)

· Cleanroom HVAC (Chemical exhaust in manual operation no makeup air)

· Chemical Exhaust Systems (Chemical exhaust in manual operation)

· General and Public Spaces HVAC (Down - No UPS power)

· Ultra-pure Water System (Unknown)

· Process cooling water (Down - No UPS power)

· Acid  Waste System (Down - No UPS power)

· Toxic Gas Delivery/Monitoring (Down - No UPS power)

· Research Tool (All tool not on UPS power should have power, but ambient conditions are out of control for the labs and cleanroom)

We have located the issue with a failed main breaker after the UPS unit. We are currently waiting on the Purdue University electrical shop to safety trouble shoot the breaker issue.

Dear BNC User –

The BRK lost UPS power that runs all of our critical building control systems as well as sensitive research tools.  Card reader system is currently offline since it's powered up by the UPS system.  We were in the process of bringing in the Purdue high voltage crew to help with switching power.  Updates will be sent when new information comes in.
